There are several subjective truths (probably even more) that I read and hear of "spiritual" and "enlightened" individuals and entrepreneurs. They repeat them like mantras and so people gobble them and accept them for their own truth.
In nature there is no Wi-Fi, but the connection is much better.
Yes, the mountain has no Wi-Fi, 3G Internet is weaker due to incomplete coverage of GSM operators. The feeling of connectedness is not "measurable" digitally in this sense. Doctors may discover what the hormone, what substances are released in the body or what impulses occur in the brain when feeling this feeling, but they will not establish a global, universal definition, because this feeling is subjective.
One can feel isolated and unrelated among people. For example, when the topic of the talk on the table is about something that is not of interest to the individual. One can feel isolated and alone when hi is in nature - there are people who feel better when they are located in noisy places and do not tolerate peace and quiet. All kind of personalities exist.
But is also true opposite. Others feel good around people, when they are the center of the attention, or even just to attend in silence at a large company. Third feel good in silence when in nature and hearing "natural" sounds. One feels a sense of connectedness when touching something "alive". But in its core the concrete also is part of nature. Just some people push the illusion that something is not part of nature - the illusion of separation. Yes, the concrete does not "breathe" and does not create oxygen, but it protects the people from the elements of nature. It is just not quite so fashionable, or at least in the prevailing parts of the world, the buildings to be adapted to grow plants on them.
The feeling of connectivity can not be fully defined by the number of friends or followers on social networks. It can not be define by the feeling when you're outdoors.
The feeling of connectivity is internal perception and feeling. You need to move your center of attention, to get out the binoculars of focus on yourself and you point it out. To broaden feeling to which you want to have for yourself.
You can feel the connection when you're in the woods - how the trees "breathe" how the birds are singing and live in them, how an animal or plant species depend on each other and live in symbiosis.
You can feel the connection and in human society. You just have to move your focus from yourself, from your personal desires and your animal needs. If you do enough ZOOM OUT, you can feel - shoppers feed their families on the market, thanks to the selling the sellers earn money to feed their own families, the same goes for coffee shops in the morning. If everyone drunk their coffees at home, there would be no cafes, restaurants and all other facilities. Thank goodness we do not have to feel, simply because it works, how we all depend to the transport system - for the delivery of food and any other facilities and so on. To "enlighten" you should meditate. In order to enlighten yourself you have to go outdoors. To enlighten you should go away or you should follow religious traditions. When the man climbed the pyramid of Maslow he began to have some strange desires - to cultivate and develop himself, to be more spiritual and stuff. From the history we can find many methods, many paths we can go to reach perfection. We have them in abundance - Christianity, Islam and many Eastern religions and practices in each of them there are several branches. In Christianity - Catholicism, Protestantism and Orthodoxy, Islam - Sunni Islam, Shiites, Sophism. In eastern philosophies and religions - Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism, Shinto, Jainism and so on. I am not saying that it is absolutely impossible to reach spiritual awareness and enlightenment through them. According to me, the moment when the individual path of each person goes beyond his own personal merits, his own choices and begins to be influenced from the environment to borrow or to convince or to attract others in his "faith" it is the moment of inserting frames in an imposed religion. Religion and spirituality are beginning to mix and confuse, but they are not the same thing.
The time when religion is formalized, becomes mandatory and imposing, it loses some of its essence. Say words X, do action Y. Nobody should impose to anyone else what to believe. I think the basic principle that must apply in order that we get better is - not doing something to somebody else that you do not want somebody else to do to you. Help others if they agree or if it is requested. Unwanted assistance too often is not good.
This principle is at the core of all religions, but what reaches us, is often with so many masks, posturing and "clothing" that many people are confused and derive different meanings and gradually the religions are demonized. Most often one to another.
In the East the spirituality is pushing the idea of a greater connection with the "self", with your inner self. This idea has a lot of sense, because everything starts "from within." But the inner world is inevitably connected with the outside, the material - the emphasis that is placed too much in the Western worldview. The world is currently in the state, which is precisely because of the obsession of both worlds to pursue obsessively their own worldview and they are not looking for the middle path.
To succeed, you need to be yourself and do what you love. Again very very relative.
First I want to interject the issue of Self. Who are you? Are you your body? Are you your thoughts, your ego, your profession, your social profile? Are you the "rider" behind the thoughts, feelings and body? Or you are a process, flexible, interacting with the world process that changes (inevitably). So what you got for definition for itself becomes a very relative term.
How will you succeed if you like to watch TV series? Introversion and consumerism are incompatible with the popular idea of success. If you only want to consume, collect, and not doing any connection with other human beings in the real world or virtual, it is impossible to achieve something. Success has algorithm and all that it reached after a certain amount of steps. Success is not always connected, one hundred percent with what you love. What I like to do might make sense for yourself to achieve your definition of success, but until you reach to other people, it remains only yours. And when you realize that you, as a creature, sooner or later you will die sooner or later acquire one such desires to reach more people. In this context comes the inevitable need to contact other people really. Since we have failed to create a better system in the transition of human evolution and thinking, we have created a system called "money".
An opinion that is heard a lot is that to get rich, you need to savings. Most likely very few people have become wealthy by saving. Just because no matter how you work, you'll never manage to earn as much money as they can print out the banks. Static currencies under your control made by banks are written down every day because of inflation. The money is multiplied when rotated by yourself or by someone else in the economic cycle when "do" some work. This issue is also related to my previous article "What is the extent of your thinking."
When you realize that money is a tool and not an end in itself alone, one can begin to "spin" into something close to it - the artist will buy paints, programmer - computer, the photographer - a camera and so instantaneous passion a person can enter the service for other people around the world and earn money without to have money as the ultimate goal, just because money is can be lost, money can be earned, but life is passing, but there is no turning back of time.
I think to have spiritual inclinations and beliefs is fully compatible with the present. I think the problem comes when you do something of faith in religion - from spiritual religions to material things in the world - money, possessions, philosophies and abstractions as a state and social order, all woven with imperfections of the human person and thought. It is faith in something that creates a reality in which we live, for this I think this is a good idea to be well aware of what we believe, because the law of attraction works and it will show us examples of our beliefs. This is our ultimate objective seems to me to be here - to realize that we are the creators of our own world and it is a good idea to make it possible better.
